As you may know, besides being a working colorist and publishing this Newsletter I'm also co-founder of the color grading training website MixingLight.com.

This NAB is going to be very special for Team Mixing Light! I'm pleased to announce:
You will find us in Booth #SL6328. We are guests of Flanders Scientific and Gaiamount (the mainland Chinese training arm of Zunzheng, manufacturers of FSI displays).

Here's a rendering of our space, in the corner of the FSI booth (you'll have to visit the booth to see what FSI has on display on the other side of those walls :-) ...

This past week we locked down our Presentation Grid. Not only will Robbie Carman, Dan Moran, and myself be presenting every day - so will a roster of talented post production professionals who are also Mixing Light Contributors.

Presentations start every day at 10:15am

We are doing one presentation every hour, on the :15s. Topics will run from color grading in HDR to working in Fusion to high-quality finishing in Premiere Pro to (yes) HDR, and more...

We also have two special guest presenters. We are revealing the full grid of presentations and times on MixingLight.com later this week.

It's going to be an exciting NAB for Mixing Light.

If you're on the show floor then stop by, say hi, and sit in on a presentation (or six)!

See you next Sunday (as NAB rapidly approaches).

Happy Grading!

Big news for NAB attendees. In 2020 the show floor opens on Sunday (not Monday) and runs through Wednesday (not Thursday). Personally, I like the idea... at the Colorist Mixer we'll be talking about what was released earlier that day, rather than speculating. Then again, currently, the lack of hard details on Sunday night means we all have to talk about other stuff.
It'll be presented in both 2D and 3D in select cities. So save the date, October 4, 2019, to see if Ang Lee has 'cracked the code' on High Frame Rate capture and exhibition. Considering frame rates haven't changed in 100 years, it's worth the time of pros to make the effort and evaluate new alternatives.

"While the 16GB of VRAM alone makes this an interesting option for DaVinci Resolve, raw performance is a major concern as well. To see how the Radeon VII fares, we are going to take a look at how it stacks up against the AMD RX Vega 64 as well as the entire NVIDIA GeForce RTX lineup - plus the Titan RTX - in DaVinci Resolve Studio 15.3."
