With the official release of Resolve 15, I decided to update my 'How to Beta Test' guide with specific pointers on upgrading from previous versions of Resolve to an official non-Beta build. Yes. My guide is a little O.C.D. But that's for a reason!

Reading through several articles this week about the 2018 MBP thermal issues - I came across two hardware diagnostic tools. This one is Windows only.

This is a cross-platform software tool for power usage monitoring of Intel Core processors. This is the 2nd tool that professional reviewers seem to be using - and you may want to check out.

A roundup on expanded gamut, 4k and UHD computer displays.

There's only one reason this item is here: It's friggin' cool. I wonder, what would a pressure sensitive trackball do for colorists with that extra dimension?
If you're looking for a UHD User Interface display that has a reasonable chance of representing your color grade - and want it for under $1,000 - then this may be on your wish list. But I dispute that this is a competent HDR display.

If you're in the market for a home theater OLED and want to consider an alternative to the LG, then this is it.

Random thoughts, tidbits, and fun stuff that caught my attention this week. Maybe it's color grading related. Maybe not. Ya got'ta read to the end of the Newsletter to find out.
If you update your AppleTV to osTV 12 Public Beta, what movies are available with ATMOS? On this page type 'Dolby' into the Audio Quality field. As of this writing, it's growing quickly (but doesn't surpass VuDu).

Ferrofluid and sound waves. Photographer Andrew Hall gets real-life images that look like CGI. Must be fun.

S-weet. This may be my August Project.

The new format is initially available on only Amazon-branded players - not on apps on 3rd party hardware. Thus, ensuring Amazon Prime continues to be the last streaming service I check when looking for content.
Who remembers back when all Netflix did was deliver DVDs (from lists you managed through a browser)? Amazing that they've navigated this transition. It has to be one of the best business stories of this century.
