The Craft
  • The 40 Most Beautiful Shots From The Movies of 2017 - "Each film is limited to one shot for the purposes of this list. Otherwise, it would be a bunch of shots from Blade Runner 2049 drowning out everything else."  The craft of cinematography also includes the craft of color grading, among others. (filmschoolrejects.com)
  • Grading controls should be more like guitars - "Lastly, and the reason for this article, I don’t like how the [FCPX 10.4] color-balance and contrast controls interact with one another as you make adjustments. This is probably my biggest complaint. It’s also possibly a bug." (vanhurkman.com)

  • Color Correction Look Book - This is the second part of the Color Correction Handbook, exploring the creative techniques for over 200 different visual looks. A sort-of recipe book for colorists. (amazon.com
  • The Art and Technique of Digital Color Correction - Read how a dozen different colorists grade the same footage with the same gear, differently. A fantastic approach to learning the craft of color grading by Steve Hullfish. (amazon.com)
