             Issue CCLXXXVI                                                                     A TaoOfColor.com Publication

From The Publisher
  • Just a few hours after this edition of the Tao Colorist Newsletter ships, your Publisher will begin his 26 hour trek from Orlando, Florida to ShenZhen, China. My first ever foray to the Far East.
  • I'm attending a color conference being hosted by the fabricator of Flanders Scientific displays, along with my Mixing Light partner, Robbie Carman and a Sponsor of this Newsletter, Bram Desmet of FSI.
  • I mention this not to make you jealous.
[But—if you are feeling jealous, I've been told I can eat breakfast that's squirming on my plate...

There's also the matter of the 26 hours I'll be spending in airplanes and on layovers before arriving in ShenZhen (and again on the way home). Maybe that will help you feel better you won't be joining us?]
  • I mention this because I've decided the Newsletter will be on hiatus next week, allowing me to fully focus on this experience.
  • So... We'll see you in two weeks.
Happy Grading!

The Business
  • No RED at NAB2017 - instead, they'll be at CineGear. Why? “In terms of size, Cine Gear pales in comparison to NAB, but it takes place in the heart of Hollywood, at Paramount Studios lot on Melrose Avenue, and is attended mostly by working, LA-based professionals.” Or maybe not showing up is easier than trying to explain a major downsize in their NAB footprint?
