[random thought]
  • I love the look of the Roman Numeral of this week's 190th Issue!
[/random thought]
  • I'm typing this from my hotel room in Las Vegas. And since my internet connection is a teather to my phone… and I don't pay for unlimited data… if there's video for me to watch, it's likely not making this newsletter unless it's specifically NAB related :-)
  • In fact, anything not NAB-related probably didn't make this edition of the newsletter.
  • Hence - this is the NAB-shortened edition of the Tao Colorist Newsletter (and the NAB-expanded opening comments from the Tao Publisher)
  • But wait - it gets better…
  • With 2.5 days of teaching, two days of show floor meandering, 5 nights of industry networking events—next week's edition of the Tao Colorist newsletter is canceled!
  • Long-time readers have come to expect this. Now our new readers are being trained to expect this as well (welcome to the fold)!
  • But don't feel bad about no newsletter next week. Why?
  • Here's an NAB secret: Those of you sitting at home experiencing the internet / Twitterized version of NAB usually find out the big news before the attendees do!
  • So you won't miss anything by not having the newsletter next week.
  • Another NAB secret: It isn't until the weeks AFTER NAB that bloggers who were here to experience, test and see the products in those press releases / Twitter streams start posting their in-depth impressions and opinions of what they saw.
  • Those opinions and impressions will start filling the pixels of this newsletter in many future editions! (starting two weeks from today)
[slight change of subject]
  • One cool NAB 2014 happening that you won't hear anywhere else?
  • Every Wednesday Tao Managing Editor Jim Wicks and I have an early morning Skype call to discuss the next edition of the Newsletter.
  • This Wednesday? We're having that exact same meeting… in person over coffee, bacon and cupcakes (it's a Las Vegas casino Buffet thing… always the cupcakes with your coffee and bacon!). It'll be a real treat and I'm absolutely looking forward to it.
  • But with no newsletter to write for next Sunday - I have no idea what we'll be talking about.
  • The other big difference this Wednesday? We'll be joined by the Tao Treasurer and she always lights up the room!
Happy Grading!
The next newsletter is in TWO WEEKS
