    Issue CLXXXIX                                                                         A TaoOfColor.com Publication

Publisher: Pat Inhofer                                                            Managing Editor: Jim Wicks

From the Publisher
  • Managing Editor Jim Wicks and I were having a discussion recently about… shot matching - and how critical a skill it is for any professional (or aspiring) colorist. He went on the hunt for a few tutorials to share with his team and came up with a few. You'll find them in this Edition's Craft section.
  • Meanwhile, I'm hard at work on my next Grade-Along color correction training (here's the official announcement) plus a new Fundamentals series for DaVinci Resolve 10. The official launch for both is the first week in May. An excerpt from the Grade-Along is in the Tools section.
  • Enjoy today's edition. I'll see you next week… the Sunday before NAB begins!
Happy Grading!

  • [video] Evolution of film - like the video above, this one is a montage of the history of films. Unlike the video above, the focus is not on the cameras, but on the images that the cameras captured. And, does it in under 3 minutes. (vimeo.com)
  • [video] Virtual camera - the future of camera technology is on display in this demo of a tennis match seen from any angle you like. Sports broadcasters now have the ability to play back a shot while moving the camera to virtually anywhere in the arena. Cool stuff. Short video.  (vimeo.com)

Showcase

  • [video] Memaw - filmmaker Christian Schultz used a Canon 5D and 60D to help tell the story of Betty Sue Cox, 86, who has lived an inspirational life. The Next Step is a Doozy

  • [video] Go ahead and jump! - last September, three daredevils jumped off 1 World Trade Center, 1,368 feet up in the air.
