  • [video] Workflow: Enders Game - Last week we featured a Studio Daily article on the Enders Game workflow. This week, Michael Cioni of Light Iron Digital goes in-depth through the data management and color pipeline of Ender's Game.   • Workflow: Deep Water - Aussie-based Colorist Juan Melara walks you through the grade he created for a new short film. Juan used a Kodak 2393 LUT on Alexa LogC ProRes. He provides good workflow information, including his color inspiration and provides numerous photos.  (juanmelara.com.au)
  • Outstanding Color Grading - Colorist Dave Cole was honored recently for his work on Ang Lee's 'Life of Pi.' Cole won Outstanding Color Grading for a Feature Film at the Hollywood Post Alliance's Award show. ( shootonline.com)
  • One author, two new books - Colorist/Filmmaker/Author Alexis Van Hurkman is out with not one, but two, books that every Colorist should own. 'Color Correction Handbook,' 2nd Edition has been fully updated and revised. Alexis split off a chapter from the previous edition to write a new 2nd book called, 'Color Correction Look Book.'   • Forays into contrast land - a thread from Lift Gamma Gain inspires an After Effects plug-in that manipulates contrast in the Luma portion of the HSL color space.   • Optimizing playback in DaVinci Resolve 10 - there are a slew of preference settings to help you maximize every ounce of performance out of your color grading rig. (ilovehue.net)

  • [blog] Son of adding grain  - Colorist Nikolai Waldman offer an alternate way to add film grain inside of Resolve... and maintain real-time playback by not to using a plugin at all.
