From the Editor

This Newsletter will be on hiatus this Sunday and next Sunday. Why? I am deep deep into the launch of Tao's new training series, The Grade-Along (see below). I am literally working 7 days a week to meet our self-imposed deadline. The full day it normally takes to write the newsletter is being re-directed to training creation.

Enjoy your mornings off the next two weeks!

I'm still culling articles these two weeks - so after the hiatus, you can expect the next Newsletter (or three) to be particularly jam-packed.

But I won't leave you completely without something to do!

After the advertisement, I've got two links for your enjoyment. And now's a good time to make sure your control surface drivers and firmware are up to date (JL Cooper recently updated their Eclipse drivers to work with FCPx and Avid 6).

And I'll see you - my fantastic Newsletter subscribers - on the other side of September!

Two Links and OUT

  • A good year to be in Amsterdam: IBC 2012 - Alexis Van Hurkman weighs in on his IBC experience. And since he wasn't there in any demo or training capacity, he was able to visit most of the major players in the color grading space. Not to mention some great insights on Displays and Waveform Monitors. This post is absolutely worth your time and a full cup of coffee. (VanHurkman.com)
  • [Podcast] Bloody Cuts Interview, Part 2 - If you're a junior colorist and / or if you've never been in on a client meeting preparing for a color correction session, you'll find this Tao Podcast interesting. As part of Dead Man's Lake: The Grade-Along, I recorded the Skype pre-color grading meeting with the Director and Editor. And rather than just offering this podcast to people who buy the training, I thought it had enough educational (and promotional) value to be dropped into the Tao Interview Podcast series. Feel free to listen in. Let me know what you think via the comments on the podcast page. (TaoOfColor.com)
