  • Colorist Podcast: Part 1, Alpha Dogs Founder, Terence Curren - Terence is a colorist specializing in Avid Symphony color grading and finishing. In an interview recorded just before NAB 2011, we discuss grading with curves and have a short prescient / timely discussion of FCPx . (TaoOfColor.com)
  • Has Apple's Color Been Merged Into FCPx? Early FCPx screenshots gave many professionals hope that Apple Color's hue curves had migrated into FCPx. Find out what I discovered while taking a tour of FCPx's color correction tool set. (TaoOfColor.com)

 Tools We Use

  • Resolve 8 Discussion - As of Saturday, this is a 9 page discussion thread. My link starts you off at Page 7 when the topic of competing grading systems begins, but it's not until halfway through Page 8 the discussion really picks up. The entire thread is worth perusing. (RedUser.net)
  • Cubix: An Update - From the Cubix blog and where they stand with Resolve 8 and the Cubix GPU-Xpander 4. If you don't know - Cubix builds PCI extender box allowing you to add multiple GPUs into a MacPro... even after you've run out of slots. (CubixGPU.com)
  • Sony PVM Series OLED Described - If you're looking for a more 'affordable' OLED, here are details on Sony's OLED monitors. It's written by Sony (so don't expect a list of faults), but it does include pricing. (ProVideoCoalition.com)

Tools We (Secretly) Use

  • Magic Bullet 11 Is Released - Including a new plug-in, Cosmo, for skin and blemish repair and and a re-designed Magic Bullet Looks 2. (RedGiantSoftware.com)
  • Plot Device: A Film to Sell Color Grading Tools - With the launch of Magic Bullet 11, Red Giant created a short film graded entirely using their tools. Pro graders will find their grading choices a bit over-the-top... but I suspect that's what (most of) their market is looking for. But really, who cares? It's a fun short film that evangelizes color grading. Check it out. (Vimeo.com via @tylerginter)
