Arri Alexa Post-Production, Part 1
A(nother) really nice article by Oliver Peters on possible post workflows for the Alexa. He does a nice job describing the Rec. 709 and Log C gamma profiles that this camera can record... and it's impact on color grading. He also suggests a 'creative' way of fitting Log C back into Rec. 709 and links to a 3rd party FXScript filter for FCP created for Alexa media that applies a Rec 709 LUT on Log C material - with optional timecode burn-in for digital dailies.

Clairvoyant Cutting
A behind-the-scenes look at posting CBS' "The Mentalist". My favorite line: "I never do a rough cut.  When I cut, I go for the gold right out of the box.  I want it to be as perfect as possible."

Kudos

Zacuto wins the Emmy for "The Great American Shootout 2010"
For the first time web content was allowed to compete for the Emmy's - and they had to do it head-to-head against television content. And Zacuto had a ground-breaking win for it's fantastic web series. And if you missed, here's the link to the original series... which is not only outstanding, it's completely deserving of its success.
