- nVidia's new Quadro 4000 for Mac was posted to the Apple Store earlier this week. Then it was removed. And now it is back up. Some have speculated Apple jumped the gun on this. Upside? It is now available for pre-order. Pricing at Silverado Systems is $1200 and accepting pre-orders, shipping sometime this month.
- GPU-based video processing is having a radical effect on the professional color grading and finishing business. What's the big deal about them? And what should we be looking forward to in this upcoming crop of cards from nVidia (including the Quadro 4000)? FXGuide TV has a nice interview with nVidia at SIGGRAPH earlier this year. The interview starts at 21 minutes in. Worth the watch! (FYI, "Fermi" - which is mentioned a lot - is the shortcode for this next generation of nVidia cards.) Source: FXGuide.com via @hurkman

- James Cameron tells Hollywood to stop making trash 3D movies! CrunchGear has a synopsis and analysis of the orignal BBC story. Too bad we all don't have 3 years to make a single movie. Otherwise there'd probably be fewer crappy movies - in 3D or 2D. Source: BBC.co.uk via @petapixel

Settling The Score
- Last week I linked to a blog post "What's the Big Deal about FCP" which did a feature comparison between FCP and Avid. Frankly, it's a tired topic. I'm not sure why I linked to it. It turns out I shouldn't have. The author didn't do any fact-checking and made factual errors about the Avid. If you read that post, you'll want to read Dylan Reeve's comprehensive response.
